Friday Flowers Club #20~Love

Hello Friends.

We all know what day falls this coming Friday. I’ve struggled a little with how to approach Valentine’s Day, as a ‘Florist’ there is almost an unspoken obligation to market the hind legs off the occasion and make it an event. But that doesn’t seem to me to be in the spirit of Friday Flowers Club, and I wouldn’t take this group for granted like that. So instead I am going to quickly tell you what Valentine’s Day means to me, because almost eight years ago it changed forever.

On 14th February 2017, my son was born.

Consequently, in so many ways, Valentines Day is now lost for my husband and I in its conventional sense. Romantic evenings in restaurants have been forsaken for birthday parties at Crazy Golf. The exchange of special gifts to each other replaced by the purchase of boxes of lego or whichever action figure is in fashion. We no longer celebrate each other, but somebody else on the fourteenth.

But in ‘losing’ Valentines Day we have also gained its truest meaning. Because Finlay has reaffirmed our faith and belief in goodness, honesty, and in each other. He is quite honestly the personification of love itself. And we will never stop celebrating that, not just on the fourteenth, but the rest of the year too. So Happy Birthday Finlay, and Happy Valentine’s Day.

Whilst Valentine’s flower orders are very welcome, as in my previous post, FFC continues uninterrupted, so if you would like just like a bunch of flowers as usual then please do drop me a line. The FFC flower theme for this week, fittingly, is based upon Finlay’s favourite colour- purple (it’s also orange, but those colour combinations are a little bit of a step too far for me)!

Also please bare in mind that it is valentines week and therefore the cost of flowers is sky high, and for this week they will be a little more expensive.

Drop me a message for prices and if you would like to order.

And as always “Bringing the Outdoors In”.
