Friday Flowers Club #22~One small step at a time.

Hello friends.

Aside from the regular cycle of Friday Flowers Club and ad hoc commission work, since December I have also been working behind the scenes on an altogether different project.

Almost a year since this journey began, I now have a studio. High up in the rafters above the parade of shops in Fulwood sits a space of creation and retreat. Somewhat messy, somewhat chaotic, somewhat Nicola Green Botanica.

Some of you have already visited me here in Fulwood, and you will know it very much remains a work in progress. But the difference it has already made to the practical side of running a small flower business has been immeasurable. To have literal places for equipment, tools, foliage and flowers. To be able to commit resources to a vision and idea. To have space, time and therefore agency over the work I am trying to do. And therein lies the real value, realised one small step at a time.

Saturday just passed was International Women’s Day. And for me, there is no greater representation of its meaning than our ability as women to have agency over our own choices and purpose. So many don’t. I don’t believe there is a finite definition of what that might mean, it will be different for all of us but equally relevant. But I hope that you have found or can start to find the space to advocate and create your own agency, whatever it may entail.
I don’t think there is a better way of honouring our fellow women. Even if that means one small step at a time.

This week I’m loving the fresh, delicate spring pink pastels of ranunculus  and delphiniums and the Smith & Munson tulips will be Flash Point double pink.

For any orders please drop me a message.

As always “Bringing the Outdoors In”.

Nicola
